Wash mitt back in soapy water, wash the bonnet then rinse in clean water again. Repeat this all the way around the car. This minimises dirt going back into your soapy water. Dirt on your wash mitt will cause swirls and scratches, so by rinsing the mitt out frequently will help to reduce this. There are other options such as using multiple quality microfibre towels in the soap bucket. Fold the towel in half and half again and then you have 8 sides of the towel to work with. Use one side of the towel for each section of the car and toss that towel aside once every side has been used. Grab your second towel and repeat. This way you are using a perfectly clean towel for the whole car and reducing the chance of swirls.
